The Search
This hire would become the company’s first CMO and was part of a larger search assignment to build the company’s Executive team. It was critical for the organization to land a mature, experienced leader who would build the business and support the sales efforts to significantly grow revenue and help secure a formal Series A.
The Client
Diversys has a vision to enable a world with no waste. They help to do this by providing an enterprise SaaS solution that enables organizations, in the circular economy, to better report and manage their recycling obligations such as compliance and ESG scores.
Toronto-based Diversys has secured working capital from Angel investors and has a Beta product with a number of early customers.
Search Requirements
The successful hire needed to be an accomplished marketing executive with experience building a business, ideally for an early stage software company. They also needed to have experience marketing enterprise grade business applications. The ideal candidate was someone who had developed global strategies to drive growth, thought leadership, branding and events. Experience leading a business to an exit was considered a nice-to-have bonus.
The Hire
The chosen hire had 30 years of employment experience and was considered a subject matter expert in marketing complex enterprise-grade B2B software across multiple verticals. They also had deep expertise developing strategies for global markets, launching new lines of business and building start-ups – leading one those businesses to a successful exit via acquisition.
